GAINESVILLE – At our most recent meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution, members of the Col. William Candler chapter performed the award-winning drama written by our fellow daughter, Dr. Lynda Holmes.
Holmes wrote the nationally recognized play "Exploring Our American Heritage with the Apron Mavens," which received a first place award in the American Heritage Literature and Drama Contest by the NSDAR this past summer.
The one-act play chronicles a family preparing for a soldier's homecoming, and two young women learning about women in the Revolution while discussing their common, household aprons. Holmes, a Flowery Branch resident, is a published author, a teacher and serves the chapter as the Literacy Promotion Chair, among her many other accomplishments.
