PHOTO GALLERY: Gainesville celebrates Halloween on the trail, around the square

GAINESVILLE — Even though Halloween is a week away, Gainesville residents and their pets put on their costumes and started the celebration early with two events in the city on Saturday.

Trick or Treat on the Trail was a free event coordinated by the Gainesville Parks and Recreation Department on the Midtown Greenway. Hundreds of trick-or-treaters showed up to play games and grab some goodies. The event also served as a benefit for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank, since participants were asked to bring canned foods to contribute.

Also, "Howl-O-Ween on the Square" served as a fundraiser for the Hall County Animal Shelter, so there were plenty of pets in costume Saturday night.

Enjoy photos from both events from AccessWDUN's David Cook and Bill Maine.
