TIGER — Last season was a first, this season Rabun County is getting used to it.
The Wildcats clinched their second straight Region 8-AA crown on Friday, hammering Washington-Wilkes 43-10 in Tiger.
A year ago marked Rabun's first-ever solo region crown; now that the Wildcats (8-1, 5-0 Region 8-AA) have a second straight, they can set their goals even higher.
Quarterback Bailey Fisher continued his scorching play, passing for four touchdowns and 239 yards while completing 16 of 23 passes -- though the sophomore was intercepted once. Charlie Woerner led all Rabun receivers with 5 catches for 61 yards and a score, while Tristan Huggins has two touchdown catches and Alden Wright one. Wright finished with four receptions for 53 yards, and Dillyn Nichols had 5 catches for 58 yards.
Meanwhile, the Rabun defense held the visitors in check, allowing just 163 total yards, while snapping up three turnovers.
The Wildcats put the game away in the second quarter, scoring 29 unanswered points for a 36-3 halftime advantage.
Rabun County will close out the regular season on Nov. 6 against Greene County; they have a bye next week.
