Jefferson blanks East Jackson

COMMERCE — Class AAA No. 3 Jefferson remained unbeaten after taking a 49-0 win over East Jackson Friday in Region 8-AAA action.

The Dragons (8-0, 4-0 Region 8-AAA) started fast with 35 first quarter points en route to the big win.

Sophomore running back Colby Wood played just seven offensive plays for the Dragons but was more than effective carrying the five times for 113 yards and a touchdown. Zach Boobas had two rushing touchdowns and added a pick-6 on defense.

Darian Hill had two touchdowns and quarterback Zach Corbin had one score for Jefferson, which piled up 321 total yards of offense.

The Dragons defense held East Jackson (1-7, 0-4) to just 61 total yards of offense.

Jefferson will have a bye week next Friday before taking on Oconee County in Watkinsville in two weeks in what is expected to be a battle for first place in the region.
