COMMERCE — Caleb Brooks had 133 yards rushing and scored twice despite just six carries to lead Commerce to a 45-0 win over Providence Christian Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers (4-3, 3-2 Region 8-A) pounded out 352 yards on the ground and took control early scoring 21 points each in the first and second quarters.
J’various Wood scored on a 10-yard run to start things off for Commerce and Cole Chancey followed moments later with a 2-yard touchdown run for a 14-0 lead. Brooks then scored his first touchdown on a 41-yard run to cap a 21-0 first quarter.
The Tigers continued the onslaught as Will Thomas scored a 34-yard run with Brooks getting his second touchdown of the game on a 10-yard run midway through the period. Trevonta Williford capped the 42-points first half returning a Providence fumble 43 yards for a touchdown.
Andres Salgado capped the scoring with a 34-yard field goal in the third quarter.
The Tigers held Providence Christian (0-7, 0-4) to just 96 yards rushing and 13 yards pass for the game.
Commerce next will travel to Towns County next week in another 8-A battle.
