JEFFERSON — The Jefferson girls volleyball advanced to the second round of the Class AAA state tournament with an impressive sweep of North Clayton Wednesday.
The Lady Dragons, behind 14 aces and eight kills from Abby Wood, took a 25-6, 25-8, 25-16 victory in the opening round.
With the victory, Jefferson set a school-record for wins in a season. The Lady Dragons next will travel to Area 7-AAA champion East Hall next week.
Bre Arbanas added eight kills and Grace Haney had 10 assists and three digs for Jefferson. Madison Corbett had 15 assists, Mary Carson had four aces and five kills, and Hope Forrester had four kills for the Lady Dragons.
