Habersham EMC is advising residents in it's coverage area to avoid any downed power lines as the company attempts to restore power to the almost 14,000 customers without power.
HEMC's Nicole Dover said in a release that the weather system that hit the East Coast over the last two days has caused several trees to fall, knocking over the power lines. Residents are advised to not touch any lines, or attempt to remove trees or tree limbs that have lines tangled in them.
Habersham EMC's coverage area covers six North Georgia counties, Habersham, Hall, White, Rabun, Stephens, Lumpkin and Towns.
