JEFFERSON — The Jefferson girls volleyball team swept a pair of matches in battle of Jackson County teams on Thursday.
The Lady Dragons whipped Jackson County 25-5, 25-9 and then held off East Jackson 25-16, 25-21 victory over East Jackson. With the victories, the Lady Dragons ran their record to a new school-record in wins at 32-5 and they clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Area 8-AAA Tournament.
Jefferson will play host to Nos. 3 and 6 seeds next Thursday in the Area Tournament and then will play the winner of that match.
