VIDEO: Kenseth punches Contender round ticket at New Hampshire

It’s happened to all of us.  The fuel light is on, you’re low on gas, but you think you can make it a couple more miles to the gas station.  And then the engine sputters, and you’re on the side of the road.

For most of us, all it costs is some time and a little dignity as we get a friend to help us get home.  Sunday, for Kevin Harvick, it may well have cost him a chance to defend his championship.

After dominating the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, a miscue for Harvick’s team left the No. 4 on the track instead of on pit road under the final caution.  Harvick was told by his crew chief to save fuel.  But that’s hard to do when Matt Kenseth is breathing down you neck.

With two laps to go, Harvick’s engine sputtered, and his chance at the win and a free pass into the next round of the Chase went away.  Kenseth, on the other hand, scored the 13th win of the season for Joe Gibbs Racing, and punched his ticket to the Contender Round of the Chase.

Kenseth talked to the media about the win afterwards, as did his crew chief, Jason Ratcliff.  We also heard from second place finisher Denny Hamlin and Jeff Gordon, who came home in seventh.

Austin Dillon led the most laps in Saturday's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, pulling away on the final restart to score the victory. It marked the first win for both the team, GMS Racing and crew chief Shane Huffman.

Dillon and his team made the call to stay out on old tires with just under 30 laps to go, putting him right where he needed to be to score the win.  Dillon held off Matt Crafton by a little over a second en route to the victory.  Dillon talked about the win afterwards.  We also heard from second place finisher Crafton.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Xfinity Series both head for the “Monster Mile”, Dover International Raceway in Dover, Del. for this weekend’s action.  WDUN will have live coverage of the entire race weekend.
