Girl Scouts to honor Bruner with Woman of Distinction Award

GAINESVILLE - Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia has selected Ruth Bruner as this year Gainesville Woman of Distinction honoree.<br /> <br /> A luncheon event in Bruner's honor will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:30 at Gainesville First United Methodist Church.<br /> <br /> The award honors a woman who reflects the values in the Girl Scout Promise and Law and who serves as an excellent role model for girls. <br /> <br /> Bruner is a member of the Gainesville City Council and serves on the boards of several local organizations. She also served as Mayor for two years, served two appointed terms on the Hall County Library Board and served as chairperson of the Gainesville City School Board. <br /> <br /> She is a member of First United Methodist Church, where she sings in the choir and plays handbells. She owned and managed Nursing Care, Inc., the first licensed private duty agency in Georgia, until 2002.<br /> <br /> Proceeds from the event will benefit Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia. Individual tickets are $45 and sponsorship opportunities are available.
