GAINESVILLE - The Rotary Club of South Hall recently donated $1,000 to benefit ShelterBox, a humanitarian relief charity that assists survivors of disaster and humanitarian crises around the globe. <br />

"The members of more than 33,000 Rotary Clubs around the world place value in service above self," said Betsy Clausen, President of the Rotary Club of South Hall. "We have a commitment to helping others in need."<br />

ShelterBox provides humanitarian aid-emergency tented shelter and other supplies, such as stoves, blankets and water filtration systems, among other tools to help families rebuild their lives after losing their homes and possessions following a disaster such as earthquake, volcano, flood, hurricane, cyclone, tsunami or conflict.<br />

The organization is currently responding to disasters in the Philippines, Niger, Iraq and more. <br />
