MONTEVALLO, ALABAMA -- Despite three players in double figures, the North Georgia men's basketball team suffered a 76-62 Peach Belt Conference setback at Montevallo on Wednesday evening in UM's Trustmark Arena. With the loss, the Nighthawks drop to 12-6 overall and 6-5 in league play.<br />

Montevallo improves to 14-7, 10-1 PBC with their fifth consecutive win as the Falcons remain in a tie with Columbus State atop the West Division standings.<br />

Shaquan Cantrell posted a team-best 15 points on six-of-13 from the floor, while Ebo Smith and Corey Green each reached double figures with 11 and 10 respectively.<br />

Shykeem Jackson and Ryan May each registered 16-point evenings to lead five Falcons in double figures. <br />

Montevallo led by nine (42-33) at the break. A dunk by UM's Larry Slaughter less than a minute into the second half gave the Falcons a double figure lead which they would keep for the remainder of the night.<br />

Montevallo held a 45-29 edge on the glass and held the Nighthawks to 38% (22-of-27) from the field while making good on 48% (30-of-63) of their shots.<br />
The Nighthawks will open a stretch of three straight home games on Saturday (Jan. 31) when Lander comes to Memorial Hall for a 3:30 p.m. PBC tip off.
