Girls basketball: Lady Raiders whip Lambert in 6-AAAAAA

COAL MOUNTAIN -- North Forsyth started strong and then held off a furious fourth quarter rally to beat Lambert 56-44 Tuesday in Region 6-AAAAAA action at home.<br /> <br /> The Lady Raiders (16-2, 10-1 Region 6-AAAAAA) opened the game with a 16-6 run and then increased their lead to 31-14 by halftime. Lambert (8-10, 3-8) pulled within 31-19 with a 5-0 run to start the third quarter but could get no closer until the fourth quarter.<br /> <br /> North Forsyth led 44-24 heading into the fourth quarter and stretched its lead to 48-27 on a Sydney Pefanis 3-pointer. The Lady Longhorns closed the gap with a 17-8 run but could get no closer than the final score.<br /> <br /> Lochlain Corliss led North Forsyth with 15 points and five assists. Caroline Bowns added 14 points and five assists for the Lady Raiders.<br /> <br /> North Forsyth hit 11 3-pointers and just six 2-pointers for the game.<br /> <br /> The Lady Raiders next will play host to West Forsyth in a battle for second place in the region.
