GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville planning staff is again recommending denial of a rezoning request for a piece of property in the Thompson Bridge Road/Virginia Circle area.
David Johnson wants to place a retail building and restaurant with a drive-thru on the tract but the planning staff says even his revised plans are inconsistent with the city's Comprehensive Plan.

The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board accepted the staff's recommendation of denial the first time around - on November 11 - but the City Council kicked the matter back to the planning department for another look because of some proposed changes from Johnson.
The parcel of land consists of three lots - one of them vacant and other two currently occupied by single-family homes.

Now, the planning staff is again recommending denial of the rezoning application and the planning and appeals board is scheduled to hear the matter again next Tuesday at 5:30 at the Gainesville Justice Center/Public Safety Building.
