Creeks and rivers rose across north Georgia Sunday following heavy overnight rains, causing some flooding.<br />

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office posted pictures on its Facebook page Sunday showing flooding in places in the county, including along Big Creek and at Nicholson and Old Federal roads. The National Weather Service (NWS) says 1-3 feet of water covered the Big Creek Greenway at times Sunday.<br />

Rainfall at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville Sunday totaled 1.54 inches, to bring the total since New Year's Day to 2.53 inches, just shy of the total received for all of last January - 2.55 inches. The NWS says some areas of northwest Georgia saw close to three inches of rain and that high wind toppled several trees in DeKalb County. <br />

Georgia Power's online outage map said more than 1,400 customers were without service late Sunday morning.<br />

As the rains moved out of the area Sunday afternoon, brisk winds followed, ushering in colder weather. Plenty of sunshine is on tap Monday with the coldest weather of the season expected to settle across north Georgia by midweek, with overnight lows in of 14 in Atlanta and 13 in Gainesville Thursday morning. Daytime highs Thursday are expected to struggle to reach freezing across much of north Georgia.<br />
