Arrival of fall pushes summer-like weather aside

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
The first full day of fall in north Georgia pushed aside the warm, late-summer weather of the past few days.

Brisk winds and lows ins the upper 40s in some places greeted early risers Tuesday. The breezy conditions continued all day and temperatures were in the 70s most places by afternoon, several degrees below normal.

Some morning lows included 59 in Gainesville, 47 in Blairsville, 55 in Clayton and Clarkesville, 59 in Buford, 61 in Winder and 51 in Cumming.

Similar readings are expected for most of the rest of the week, although afternoon readings are expected to slip into the low 80s by week's end.

Fall arrived at 10:29 Monday night.
