TIGER -- Rabun County used a 15-point second quarter to erase an early deficit and then cruised to a 24-3 win over Riverside Military Academy Friday night in Region 8-AA openers for both teams.<br />

The Wildcats (3-2, 1-0 Region 8-AA) scored first on a safety in the first two minutes but Riverside (1-2, 0-1) took a 3-2 lead on a 19-yard field goal by Jordan Ainslie with 5:04 left in the first quarter.<br />

Rabun County retook the lead for good on its second recorded safety of the game. The Wildcats took the ensuing kickoff and needed just four plays, capped by a 30-yard TD pass from Collin Grant to Noah Cannon for a 10-3 lead. The put the game away with 13 seconds left in the half when Charlie Woerner scored on a 3-yard run to cap another quick four-play drive to push the lead to 17-3 at halftime.<br />

Rabun County capped the scoring with a 1-yard TD run from Grant that capped a 13-play, 9:14 drive for a 24-3 lead with jut two minutes left in the game.<br />

Rabun County next week will travel to Social Circle in another 8-AA battle. Riverside will play host to Johnson in a non-region contest.
