Georgia Southern quarterback Kevin Ellison earned Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors after directing the Eagles' comeback attempt with 28 unanswered points Saturday at Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets held on to win 42-38.<br />

The sophomore from Cornelia shared this week's honors with Georgia State's Nick Arbuckle.<br />

Ellison started Georgia Southern's scoring spree with a 32-yard touchdown dash on fourth and one in the third quarter. The Eagles posted 228 yards of total offense in the third period, with Ellison accounting for 77 rushing and 128 passing yards. He connected with B.J. Johnson for a 68-yard touchdown pass for Georgia Southern's third touchdown of the quarter.<br />

In the second half, Ellison ran for 102 of his total 107 yards and was 7-8 passing for 164 yards. His passing yards total rank as the second-highest of his career and Saturday was his fourth career game with both 100 yards rushing and passing.<br />

Georgia Southern plays South Alabama Saturday in its first-ever Sun Belt Conference game Saturday, Sept. 20. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
