LINDALE -- Chestatee picked a great time to find its running game.
The War Eagles pounded out 394 yards rushing to help bust a two-game skid and notch their first victory of the year 24-19 over Pepperell in Lindale.
"The kids played four quarters of hard, physical football, and I'm so proud of them," Chestatee coach Bill Forman said. "This is exactly what we needed to get some confidence going."

The War Eagles (1-2) took an early lead and never trailed thanks to the running of Tray Bryant, who finished with 150 yards and two touchdowns, and A.J. Sijiye, who ran for 96 yards. Quarterback Logan Cates also put up a touchdown, while Jaime Ortega kicked a field goal for Chestatee.
"We've been learning on the job with a lot of young guys," Forman said. "And we saw a lot of kids grow up tonight, and that was fun. That was War Eagle football."
Chestatee will look to keep rolling after a bye when the War Eagles travel to North Oconee on Sept. 26.
