STATESBORO -- Brandan Thomas and Ean Days combined for 229 rushing yards and three touchdowns as Georgia Southern overwhelmed Savannah State 83-9 on Saturday night.<br />

Twelve different Eagle players scored, tying a school record, as Georgia Southern (1-1) amassed 695 total yards, rushing for 599. Thomas had a career-best 117 yards.<br />

The Eagles only threw five passes. Kentrellis Showers pulled in three for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Savannah State (0-2) was limited to 295 total yards.<br />

The Tigers were trailing 55-0 in the third quarter before they crossed midfield. GSU led 69-0 at the end of the third quarter.<br />

Tino Smith threw for 110 yards and one touchdown for the Tigers.<br />
