CLARKESVILLE - Habersham EMC (HEMC) wants to teach its member-consumers how they can save electricity and money before cold weather arrives.

"We see an increase in customer inquiries regarding their electric bills during the winter," explains HEMC Energy Services Coordinator Chris Martin. "Generally, it takes more electricity to heat a home rather than cool it. Unfortunately, there can also be issues with equipment that only become evident when a member receives a higher than normal bill. We want to help our members be proactive and show them ways, some very simple and inexpensive, they can improve their energy efficiency and avoid these unpleasant surprises."

Martin and nationally recognized energy expert Rudy Echols will lead the seminar October 14 at 6:00 in the Ray Meaders Community Center of the HEMC headquarters in Clarkesville.

Space is limited for this free event. HEMC members need to RSVP by October 6 to reserve a seat.
