Hall Co. government offices will be closed on Labor Day

GAINESVILLE - Hall County's administrative offices, courts, community centers and libraries will be closed Monday, September 1, for Labor Day.<br /> <br /> As with other holidays, essential public safety and public works personnel will continue service. Hall County compactor sites will remain open, but the Hall County Landfill will be closed. <br /> <br /> Since the Labor Day holiday falls on the first of the month, Hall County Tax Commissioner Darla Eden is encouraging taxpayers with upcoming September birthdays to take the countywide closings into consideration in order to avoid possible late fees, fines or penalties due to lapsed vehicle tag registration. For delinquent property tax, Eden strongly encourages taxpayers who are under levy and scheduled for the Sept. 2 tax sale to remit payment in full by 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29. As a reminder, payments for property under levy must be made in cash, money order, certified funds or bank/credit card. Personal checks are not accepted.<br /> <br /> County officials remind residents that many county services are always available online.
