COMMERCE - A Jackson County grand jury has indicted 18 people in connection with abuse at an Alzheimer's care facility in Commerce.
The 90-count indictment against Donna Hanner Wright and 17 of her employees was handed down earlier in the week, according to a published report in the Athens-Banner Herald.
Alzheimer's Care of Commerce was raided in July 2013. Since that time, investigators have been building a case against the 18 co-defendants. The counts range from simple battery for allegedly hitting patients and pouring water on them to false imprisonment for allegedly tying patients to chairs.

Other charges include double diapering patients to avoid changing soiled diapers and failing to provide dental care.
In addition, the indictments allege Wright hired convicted felons to care for the residents.
