Hall Co. Schools see more than 60 new students on opening day

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Schools have released some raw numbers on first day attendance for the 2014-15 school year, and those figures show 62 more students were in class for the first day of school this year compared to the first day last year.<br />

Executive Director of Technology for Hall County Schools, Dr. Aaron Turpin, said based on historical data, there are greater enrollment gains when school starts on a Friday, which is the case this year. Last year, school started on a Monday. Therefore, he expects to see more students in desks next week.<br />

The system did not issue a breakdown yet on where the additional students enrolled.<br />

Turpin released the following raw data on school enrollment for the last three years.<br />

Total Day 1 FY 2015: 25,673<br />
<br />
Total Day 1 FY 2014: 25,611 <br />
<br />
Total Day 1 FY 2013: 24,838 <br />
<br />
Last year day 1 to day 2 the system was +495 (+183 Elementary, +105 Middle, +207 High School).<br />
<br />
Last year day 1 to day 3 the system was +681 (+252 Elementary, + 134 Middle, + 295 High School).<br />
<br />
Hall County Schools started on a Friday, August 10th two years ago.<br />
<br />
2 years ago day 1 to day 2 the system +864 (+322 Elementary, +159 Middle, +383 High).<br />
<br />
2 years ago day 1 to day 3 the system +1147(+398 Elementary, +203 Middle, +546 High).<br />
