GAINESVILLE - A south Gainesville railroad crossing will be closed until Aug. 15 and the city has announced a water service interruption Friday in that area as well.<br />

The railroad crossing is the one on Athens Street and that closing has been extended until Aug. 15 as Norfolk Southern Railroad continues a track replacement project.<br />

Meanwhile, city officials say water service will be interrupted on Athens Street between Mill Street and West Ridge Road Friday between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in order to complete water main improvements in the area.
