3 from Gainesville DOT office headed ROADeo competition

GAINESVILLE - The Georgia Department of Transportation announces the Northeast Georgia Winners of the annual State-wide equipment operation skills competition called the "DOT Roadeo" held last week. The ROADeo is an annual competition between Georgia Department of Transportation employees to determine the "Best" driver in six categories: Single Axle Dump Truck, Double Axle Dump Truck, Tractor Mower, Backhoe, Motor Grader and Lowboy.<br /> <br /> SINGLE AXLE DUMP TRUCK<br /> Reggie Wright placed 1st Statewide in the Single axle dump truck completion. He is an Equipment Operator One working on the Area Wide Crew for Dawson, Forsyth, Gwinnett and Hall Counties and lives in Gainesville. He won 3rd place in the District ROADeo this year.<br /> <br /> James Newberry placed 2nd Statewide in the Single axle dump truck competition. He is a Mechanic One working in the District Shop and lives in Gainesville. He won 2nd place in the District ROADeo this year.<br /> <br /> BACKHOE<br /> Jock Gosnell placed 2nd Statewide in the Backhoe driving competition. He is a Maintenance Equipment Operator for the District Bridge Maintenance Crew and lives in Clarkesville. He won 2nd place in the District ROADeo for backhoe this year.<br /> <br /> Donny Garmon placed 3rd in the Statewide Backhoe driving competition. He is the Assistant Foreman for the District Ditching and Operational Improvements Crew and lives in Hiawassee. He won 1st place in the District ROADeo for backhoe this year.<br /> <br /> TRACTOR/MOWER<br /> Johnny Cantrell placed 3rd Statewide in the Tractor Mower driving competition. He is an Assistant Foreman on the Lumpkin County Crew and lives in Suches. He won 1st place in the District ROADeo for Tractor mower this year.<br /> <br /> "District One will send three competitors to the National Competition
