Possible tornado touches down overnight in Banks Co.

HOMER - Banks County authorities said representatives from the National Weather Service will visit the county Thursday to determine if a storm that passed through the county around midnight was a tornado.

Banks County Public Information Officer Jenni Gailey said calls started coming in to the 911 center around midnight.

"We had storms overnight with substantial winds and flooding reported," said Gailey. "We had a total of 13 storm-related calls overnight."

Gailey said while a tornado has not been confirmed, it is suspected a twister hit a part of the county. She said a number of trees came down in the county, some blocking roads. she said property damage appears to be minor at this point, and no one was injured.
