IRVINGTON, AL - The Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco showcases some of the best tracks for Senoia, Georgia's Bubba Pollard. The one track that sticks out the most for Pollard is Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, Alabama. Prior to the formation of the Southern Super Series, Pollard was an 11-time winner and had captured the track's Miller Lite championship on three different occasions.
2013 was not the year for Pollard to have success at Mobile. Rain pulled the plug on two out of the four events that were scheduled. The other two events saw Pollard lead laps in both en route to finishing fourth in the first race only to brake while leading the second race at the Alabama oval. No matter what the stats were in 2013, Pollard is excited about returning to Mobile in 2014.
"We have just always run well at Mobile," said Pollard. "It's easy to sit here and think about how we could have gotten more points had we run those races that got rained out, but we are looking forward to this season."
A year ago Pollard lost the season long championship by a single point to Daniel Hemric. Now, Pollard needs the track that has been one of his most successful to help him regain lost ground from the early part of the year.
"We came out of the gates strong last year and we have been good this year, but the Rattler finish and us not being able to use our own car at Nashville really made for a difficult first few weeks," said Pollard. "We know we are strong enough to get back to the top and we have already won a Pro Late Model race at Mobile in 2014 so we are ready for the weekend."
Pollard's 11 Miller Lite Series victories more than double the wins of the next active driver on the career wins list. Pollard has also added seven Pro Late Model wins at Mobile for a total of 18 Late Model wins at the track. That does not include his Modified wins that brings has him closer to 30 all-time wins at the track.
Bubba Pollard is now set to head to Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida to kick off the Blizzard Series season on Friday, April 25 followed by the Mobile International Speedway (AL) Miller Lite Series season-opener on Saturday, April 26.
