GAINESVILLE - Two of three fires that occurred in Hall County overnight are considered "suspicious" by investigators who say, however, there is no reason to believe they are related.
Hll County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said the first call came in about 8:45 Thursday night to the 1800 block of Tulip Drive on a report of a residential fire.
"....firefighters found a 1,000 square foot structure with heavy fire showing from the kitchen area. Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and keep the fire damage to the kitchen and minor smoke damage through out the rest of the structure."
Cagle said the occupant was cooking in the oven and left the food unattended too long until it ignited. The house and its contents were valued at $50,000 with $30,000 in damages.
1:49 a.m.
Hall County Fire Services responded to the 4900 block of Price Road on a report of a house fire called in by a passer-by.
Firefighters arrived to find a 2,000 square foot house that was fully involved. It was vacant and for sale and had no power to it. The last known occupants had the power cut off a week ago.
"Due to the circumstances we are saying the fire is suspicious in nature and will be continuing the fire scene investigation after daylight," Cagle said.
4:47 a.m.
Hall County Fire Services responded to the 5900 block of Glenn Burtz Road off of Yellow Creek Road to a report of a house fire. This fire was called in by the owner who lived in another house behind the one that burned, which is believed he used it for storage.
Firefighters arrived to find a single-wide mobile home that was fully involved. It also was vacant and had no power to it. This fire is also considered "suspicious."
There were no injuries in any of the fires.
