JEFFERSON -- Jefferson remained perfect in Region 8-AA after taking a 3-1 win over Union County Thursday night at home.
Micah Carpenter scattered five hits and allowed just one run in seven innings to earn the win for the Dragons (18-3, 11-0 Region 8-AA).
After Carpenter got out of a first inning jam, the Jefferson offense got all it needed in the bottom of the first. Carpenter, Max Ford, and Jake Franklin gave the Dragons a 3-0 lead with back-to-back-to-back RBI hits.
It stayed that way until Union County scored its only run in the top of the second on a Jackson Burks home run.
Carpenter worked around three errors in the game and retired five of the last six batters to preserve the win.
Lane Everett took the loss for the Panthers surrendering nine hits and three runs in five innings. Tyler Odom worked a perfect sixth for Union County.
Jefferson next will travel to Rabun County Tuesday.
