No reports of damage as storms continue eastward across N. Ga.

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) -- Showers and thunderstorms were possible across large parts of Georgia, as a line of storms moved into the northwest corner of the state.

The storms were approaching metro Atlanta early Friday afternoon.

Earlier Friday, the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement shortly before 8 a.m. Friday, warning of storms with 45-mph gusts moving across the northwest Georgia counties of Whitfield, Murray, Walker, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd and Gordon counties.

There were no immediate reports of any major damage from the storms.

A tornado watch covered much of northern and central Alabama early Friday morning, but no such watch had been issued for Georgia.
