FCFD offers Junior Fire Academy

CUMMING - The Forsyth County Fire Department is inviting Forsyth County youth interested in learning what it takes to be a firefighter to sign up for a <br /> week-long summer camp program. <br /> <br /> The Junior Fire Academy, which is for students entering seventh and eighth grade in August, will be held July 28-August 1. <br /> <br /> In addition to the week-long program, the Fire Department is also welcoming returning candidates who have participated in a previous camp with the department to take part in a special two-day Junior Fire Academy July 22-23. <br /> <br /> Both camp programs are offered free of charge. <br /> <br /> Those attending the Junior Fire Academy will have the opportunity to experience the different aspects of being a career firefighter. From firefighting to CPR, the campers will have an unforgettable educational experience.<br /> <br /> The Junior Fire Academy programs for both new and returning candidates will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Fire Department Headquarters at the Forsyth County Public Safety Complex. Campers may be dropped off at the camp <br /> location after 8 a.m. and must be picked up by 4 p.m. <br /> <br /> Those interested in attending either Junior Fire Academy must submit a completed <br /> application by May 16. The application is available on the Fire Department page on the Forsyth County Web site at www.forsythco.com.
