HCLS requesting $194K increase in county funding in new budget

GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Library System is requesting a $194,380 increase in the county's contribution to its budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1.

The system's Executive Board discussed the proposed spending plan at a meeting Tuesday night.

Director Adrian Mixson said the total that the library system is requesting from the county is $1.9 million. Of the increase in the county's share, Mixson said $100,000 would be allocated toward the purchase of new materials.

"Impact fees paid for materials this year," Mixson said. "The other $94,380 (of the increase) would take employees off furlough and cover the increase in benefit costs."

Mixson added "The total budget is $2,541,432 with $462,660 coming from other sources." He said the county is expected to spend another $190,682 on library buildings.

County officials have requested departments and agencies to submit their proposed budgets by Friday
