GAINESVILLE -- The Chestatee girls soccer team remained unbeaten in Region 8-AAAA play after taking a 7-0 win over Stephens County Tuesday at home.
The Lady War Eagles (6-2-0, 3-0-0 Region 8-AAAA) got back-to-back goals from Sadie Foote early in the first half to get things going. Alyssa Yarck set up the first goal by Foote.
Merrie Barnett finished off a shot by Nina Burgess and added a second goal 30 seconds later to take Chestatee a 4-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Samantha Addington laid a free kick from 60 yards out sending Taylor Buffington on a breakaway and Buffington finished with a hard blast from the right side of goal box for a 5-0 lead.
Addington added her own goal in the 21st minute and two minutes later, Burgess set up Meagan Dew to complete the scoring.
Misandy Chavez recorded her second shutout in goal.
Stephens County dropped to (1-4-0, 0-2-0) with the loss.
Chestatee next will travel to Eastside Friday night.
