GAINESVILLE - A group of 70 senior adults plans to board a double-decker bus Wednesday morning and head to Atlanta to talk to lawmakers about their concerns over programs for seniors that are facing budget cuts.
In a press statement from Legacy Link, the area agency on aging for 12 north Georgia counties, organizers said they are concerned specifically about cuts to Meals on Wheels and other programs designed specifically to aid seniors.
Participants will board the bus at the Senior Life Center on Prior Street in Gainesville just before 8 a.m., and then the bus will pick up participants in at the Senior Center on Dahlonega Road in Cumming just before 9 a.m.
Megabus.com is donating the bus for the trip to Atlanta, according to organizers.
