CLARKESVILLE - Andrea Harper plans to seek re-election this year to a second term on the Habersham County Board of Commissioners (BOC).
Harper represents District 2 which encompasses Baldwin, Cornelia and Mt. Airy.
"I have enjoyed representing all the citizens of Habersham County and treasure my involvement in our community. During the past three years the commission has made positive changes and steps forward but there are still many challenges to be faced. We have to keep a tight rein on the budget while not sacrificing our standard of living; continue to improve the working relationship with our seven cities and continue striving to maintain viable health care here in Habersham County for our residents. To me this position is not a career or a legacy, it is my job and I have 43,000 bosses who can reach me any time of the day or night."
Harper is a member of the Habersham Historical Society, Order of Eastern Star Cornelia Chapter 480, the Soque River Watershed Association, the Habersham Republican Club and is a 4-H volunteer. She also sits on the Habersham Health Work committee with Archway Partners. Harper is a board member of the Alliance for African American Music in Northeast Georgia, the Cornelia Garden Club, the Friends of the Cornelia Library, the Habersham County Department of Health, the Habersham County Wall of Honor, and the Regional Black History Museum of Northeast Georgia.
