OAKWOOD -- The Johnson boys completed their regular season in style Thursday night.
The Knights exploded for 107-47 rout of Monroe Area 107-47 tonight on Senior Night at the Johnson gym.
Johnson (20-5, 7-1 Region 8-AAAA) led 26-9 after the first quarter, and then posted 40 points in the second quarter to lead 66-23 at the half behind nine first half 3-pointers. The Knights continued the onslaught in the third quarter outscoring Monroe 28-16 to take a 94-39 lead into the final period.
With the win Johnson secured back-to-back 20-win seasons for first time in school history.
The Knights had 13 players score, paved by James Hodges with 25 points and six rebounds. Justin Jones scored 19 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists and Ty Cockfield added 15 points and seven assists for Johnson. Carter Cagle added 12 points and seven rebounds and Drew Dunham chipped in nine points and 10 assists. Sean Wiese had nine points for Johnson.
Monroe Area was led by Michael Gallup with seven points.
Johnson is off until the Region 8-AAAA Tournament on Tuesday at Lanier High School.
