Retired, longtime Gainesville dentist dies

GAINESVILLE - A man who practiced dentistry in Gainesville for 38 years, Dr. Eddie Lee Jackson, has died.<br /> <br /> Dr. Jackson, who retired in 1990, died Sunday.<br /> <br /> He opened his practice in Gainesville in 1952 and during his career served as president of the Hall County Dental Society and the Georgia Academy of Dental Practice. Dr. Jackson was a lifetime member and Honorable Fellow of the Georgia Dental Association and a lifetime member of the American Dental Association and the Hinman Dental Society. <br /> <br /> A longtime member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church, he served as a charter member of the Open Door Sunday School Class and served as its president for many years. He was a Meals on Wheels volunteer and was active in the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and served as president of the Lanier Chapter of SAR. He also worked with Boy Scouts who were receiving SAR Scholarships.<br /> <br /> A celebration of life service is scheduled for 11:00 Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville. <br /> <br /> (A complete obituary can be found on the AccessNorthGa.com Obituaries Page.)
