Georgians reminded to check driver's license expiration date

ATLANTA (AP) -- The Georgia Department of Driver Services says the beginning of a new year is a good time for people to check the expiration date on their driver's license or state ID card.<br /> <br /> Department Commissioner Rob Mikell says Georgians should plan ahead if their licenses or ID cards expire in 2015. He says having documents in order and not waiting until the last minute can facilitate a smooth renewal experience.<br /> <br /> A license or ID card can be renewed up to 150 days before the expiration date. For questions about what documents are required and accepted, people can consult the agency's website.<br /> <br /> The agency reminds Georgians they can pre-apply online to fill out an application and speed up the process.
