Girls basketball: Dawson Co. shakes off slow start to beat Collins Hill

JASPER -- It's not how you start, but how you finish.<br /> <br /> The Dawson County girls basketball team proved that in a 43-32 win over Collins Hill Saturday night in the first round of the Pickens Holiday Classic.<br /> <br /> The Lady Tigers (13-0) fell behind 13-0 in the first few minutes of the game and would trail 17-6 at the end of the first quarter. But Dawson County turned up the defensive pressure and held the Lady Eagles to just 15 total points over the last three quarters.<br /> <br /> Dawson County cut the lead to 23-19 by halftime and overtook Collins Hill in the third quarter taking a 30-28 lead into the final period. The Lady Tigers closed out the game with a 13-4 spurt.<br /> <br /> Sheyenne Seabolt paced Dawson County with 14 points. Ashley Parker added 11 points and Karlie Bearden 10 for the Lady Tigers. Katelyn Simpson scored four points and pulled down six rebounds for Dawson County.<br /> <br /> The Lady Tigers will take on Riverwood on Monday in the Pickens Holiday Classic.
