Strong storms possible on Christmas Eve across Georgia

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) Forecasters say strong storms, some with the potential for isolated tornadoes, are possible over large parts of Georgia on Christmas Eve.

The National Weather Service said the storms will form along and ahead of a cold front that's expected to move across north and central Georgia on Wednesday.

Forecasters say the storms are expected to strike areas in west Georgia from 6 a.m. through noon Wednesday; and from noon to 8 p.m. in areas east of Atlanta.

The weather service said the storms could cause damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rain, which could reduce visibility on roads and cause ponding of water in low-lying areas.
