DAWSONVILLE - The Georgia State Patrol Friday morning released the identity of the truck driver who was killed in a two-vehicle crash east of Dawsonville on Thursday.

Robin Stone with the GSP post in Cumming said Jason Dale Kimberly, 36, of Oakwood, died at the scene of the wreck on Highway 53 near Buddy Burt Road.

Stone said Kimberly was driving a 2012 Freightliner, hauling a load of chicken feed, when he lost control in a curve on the highway and left the shoulder of the road.

"He over-corrected and entered back into the westbound of 53," said Stone. "[The vehicle] then rolled over onto the driver's side and it crossed the center line, entering the eastbound side of 53."

A Chevrolet Impala traveling eastbound at that moment was hit by the tractor trailer and pushed onto an embankment. Three people in the Impala were injured, but Stone said none of those injuries was life-threatening.

Stone said all of those involved were wearing their seat belts.

She said no charges will be filed, since the at-fault driver died in the crash.

The fatal accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Highway 53 was closed for several hours for the investigation and clean-up.
