Four area teams finish season ranked inside top 10

Four area teams ended the 2014 season ranked inside the top 10 of the Georgia Sports Writers Association Prep Football Poll.<br /> <br /> Buford, Commerce, Gainesville and Jefferson each made their final respective top 10s, while Lanier, Rabun County and Union County each received votes.<br /> <br /> The Wolves wrapped the season No. 1 after going 15-0 and claiming the Class AAAA title in a 55-10 rout of St. Pius X. Buford's championship victory represented its 11th overall crown and seventh in eight seasons. It was also the Wolves' 40th straight win and first Class AAAA championship after claiming titles in Classes A, AA and AAA.<br /> <br /> Jefferson wrapped its season at No. 5 in Class AAA after reaching the quarterfinal round. The Dragons (12-1) just missed out on a semifinal berth, falling 28-21 in overtime to No. 3 Blessed Trinity.<br /> <br /> Gainesville, meanwhile, capped its campaign in seventh place in Class AAAAA after reaching the state quarterfinals. The Red Elephants (10-3) fell to No. 3 Allatoona 24-17 after reaching the third round of the postseason for a fourth straight year and posting double digit wins for a seventh straight season.<br /> <br /> In Class A, Commerce ended up ninth after marauding to the Class A Public semifinals.
