Whitfield's body was found lying on the driveway of his home in unincorporated Auburn on Dec. 5. Police believe he was killed when he tried to interrupt a home invasion and robbery.
Several items, including Whitfield's girlfriend's truck, were taken from the home. Police recovered the partially stripped truck Wednesday.
Police say Benton was turned over to Gwinnett County authorities after he was arrested by police in Griffin during a traffic stop.
