DAWSONVILLE -- Dawson County built a big first quarter lead and then held on to beat Union County 41-37 Friday night in girls basketball action.<br />

The Lady Tigers (6-0) led 13-3 after the opening period and took a 24-17 lead into halftime. Union County (3-3) pull within 32-31 after the third period and had a one-point lead late in the fourth quarter.<br />

But Dawson County's Ansley Costley hit a 3-pointer to reclaim the lead and then after a defensive stop, the Lady Tigers' Karlie Bearden got fouled and hit two free throws to seaL the win.<br />

Bearden finished with a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ashley Parker added 12 points.<br />
<br />
Dawson County next will play host to Pickens on Saturday.
