Calhoun holds off WaCo for AAA title

ATLANTA -- Calhoun scored on a 40-yard double-reverse pass from Baylon Spector to Carson Brown early in the fourth quarter and defeated Washington County, 27-20, to win the Georgia High School Association Class AAA state football title on Friday night at the Georgia Dome.<br /> <br /> Kaelan Riley, who completed 11 of 22 passes for 164 yards, ran 18 yards for a score in the third quarter after throwing a 7-yard touchdown pass to Cole Jackson in the first quarter as Calhoun (15-0) completed an unbeaten season while handing Washington County (14-1) its first loss.<br /> <br /> A.J. Gray scored from 8 and a yard out for Washington County while gaining 122 yards on the ground. He also completed 12 of 24 passes for 142 yards.<br /> <br /> Washington County, which had already set a GHSA scoring record this season, led 17-14 at halftime when Wesley Ruberia booted his first of two field goals, this one from 24 yards with 25 seconds remaining.
