OAKWOOD - Howard Brothers, a family owned and locally owned True Value Hardware and Outdoor Power Equipment store in Oakwood, kicked off its Grand Re-Opening celebration Friday with a non-traditional ribbon-cutting: the ribbon was cut with a chain saw.
The store is located at 4272 Mundy Mill Road.
Oakwood Mayor, Lamar Scroggs was on hand and received praise from John and Doug Howard. John told the mayor, "We appreciate the city. They are our best friend. The police force is great, and we have had a great partnership with the city over the years."
Howard Brothers location manager Greg Pethel said many hours and much physical labor was involved by store employees to get the store ready for the event. Over the past five months, the store has been "extensively" remodeled inside and out.
Also on hand for the ribbon cutting were several representatives from True Value Hardware. Howard Brothers has been a member of the True Value family since 1972 and has retail stores in Alpharetta, Doraville, and Duluth, in addition to Oakwood. John and Doug Howard are the "brothers"in Howard Brothers. The family owned business was started by their dad.
The company has been in business since 1955 and celebrate its 60th year in 2015.
