At a meeting in May, Hall County Commission Chairman Dick Mecum, left, and County Commissioner Billy Powell, right, listen to Jock Connell as he outlines a time schedule for a possible SPLOST VII for the county.
GAINESVILLE - City and county leaders will meet again next week to discuss the upcoming Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) referendum in Hall County.

The meeting will be held Monday at 2:00 at the Hall County Government Center.

The referendum on extending the tax is scheduled for next March.

At one such meeting in May, Jock Connell, a former Gwinnett County Administrator and former interim Hall County Administrator, who is assisting local governments with coordinating the penny sales tax referendum, said should SPLOST VII pass there's a plan in place to form a Citizen Advisory Committee. Connell said this would allow the public to continue to have oversight of any SPLOST projects. (See earlier story. Link below.)

Meanwhile, another in a series of public input meetings on the referendum will be held at 5:00 Thursday at the county government center.
