GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Board of Education and one of its members have been singled out this year for special recognition by the Georgia School Boards Association.<br />

Gainesville Schools Supt. Wanda Creel says the board was named Board of Distinction by the organization and Willie Mitchell was recognized for his 25 years on the board. Mitchell is also a former chairman of the board.<br />

The association Friday opened its two-day annual conference in Atlanta.
