Protests in Atlanta after decision in NYC case

ATLANTA (AP) -- Protesters gathered peacefully in downtown Atlanta to protest a New York City grand jury's decision not to indict a white police officer in the videotaped chokehold death of an unarmed black man.<br /> <br /> Atlanta Police spokesman Officer John Chafee said no arrests, injuries or damage had been reported as a result of Wednesday night's protests.<br /> <br /> Chafee said officials had counted about 150 peaceful demonstrators during the evening, with participants dispersing around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.<br /> <br /> The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that some of the protesters lay down in the street as part of a "die-in" while others carried signs reading "Black Lives Matter" and "Listen to the people cry."<br /> <br /> Earlier Wednesday, a Staten Island grand jury decided not to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the July 17 death of Eric Garner.
